In Tokyo, Japan, at this moment, Sony is holding a huge conference to unveil what was seen on a screen as “NEXT GENERATION PORTABLE”.
Hideo Kojima and representatives from Capcom, Epic Games and Activision have been seen among the crowd.

Update #1 – PlayStation Content coming to Android OS devices via PlayStation Suite.
PlayStation Store is also going multi-platform.
PSP and PS1 games will be releasing across platforms and emulated on hardware. They will be PlayStation Certified.

Update #10 - “Near”
Near detects all PlayStation devices in the area, what other people are playing, rankings, leaderboards for games etc. It also tracks where you’ve been in the world, travelled to and gives information for every area you passed through. Links to PlayStation Store. Possible multiplayer integration using Near as well.
Update #11 – Motion Control. Imagine playing Hot Shots Golf. Seeing your golfer, then motioning the NGP forward. This takes you to first person view.
More touch integration into games, place the ball where you want to place it, look around using motion control to line up your shot etc.
Update #12 – HINT at backwards compatibility with existing PSP library through aforementioned “PlayStation Suite”
