alertDissapointing news for all of us Trinis and Tobagonians. Yesterday PSNTT reported that Amazon.com was now taking purchases for Playstation Network goodies.
Historically Amazon.com has accepted all credit cards worldwide but it seems Sony has kept its trend and issued purchase restrictions on Playstation Store items.
In order to purchase from Amazon.com, you MUST have a Credit Card/Debit Card issued by a United States Bank to complete the purchase. Anxious Trinis trying to buy from Amazon.com in light of the news were greeted with the following message:

We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

So at current, the only methods for purchasing from Playstation Store are:
1.) Having a relative use their Credit Card and repaying them.
2.) Asking your Aunty from New York to buy you ah Cyard.
3.) Using an online option of buying PSN Cards such as www.MaximusCards.com
4.) Buying a PSN Prepaid Card at a local retailer (JK Entertainment, Gamez Plus etc..)

Note these options only apply if you have a “United States” PSN Account.
If your account is a Canadian one like mine, you’ll need to source the PSN Cards from, you guessed it, Canada.
Local retailers and many online “Code” sellers don’t stock Canadian PSN Cards at this time.

  1. Or…you can connect to Amazon via an online proxy, or by running a VPN client that
furnishes your PC with a US IP-address. I think the restriction is more via location.
I think all local cards will still work, once the transaction appears to come from a US internet ‘location’

  2. Nope… its US Credit Card issued. I thought what you thought at first but here’s proof:

    Quote:
Online Game Code: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address.

  3. Wow, I just got a FREE $20.00 promotional credit from Amazon to shop on PSN. I got so ANGRY and DISAPPOINTED when I read that geographical restrictions message. I was so excited to pick up Braid and Last Guy for free.

:( I hate you so much right now Sony.
